Started by the current owner over 10 years ago, the business provides professional cleaning services to domestic and commercial clients in North Leicestershire. The business is currently run from a home office and is easily relocatable locally.
Around 75% of revenue is generated by domestic clients and the remainder, light commercial office cleaning. There is a base of over 400 clients with 110 clients currently using the services each month. Customer retention is excellent, generating an ongoing recurring revenue stream and through recommendations generating new customers, avoiding significant marketing spend.
The clients are serviced by 16 part time mobile cleaners, on zero hours contracts and who use their own cars to get to and from assignments. Cleaning products and equipment are provided by the company and replenished weekly. The majority of clients pay by BACS.
The business has a small website but the current size of the business suits the lifestyle of the vendor and hence little is spent in attracting traffic to the site.
The current owner works around 12 hours per week in the business, planning the shifts and dealing with ad hoc changes and handling new customer enquiries. In addition the vendor’s partner works around 4 hours per week handling payroll and book keeping.
There are opportunities to grow the business either through an advertising campaign to generate new enquiries or by offering complementary services to the existing customer base, such as ironing, carpet cleaning, oven cleaning etc.
In the year to April 2017 the business generated sales in excess of £150k, and owner earnings approaching £35k. The guide price for assets and goodwill is £145k to include all client and employee records, website, domain name, telephone numbers and cleaning equipment and materials. The owner will facilitate a smooth handover.
